There's a wierd dynamic with in-housemos and law firmmos.
Lawfirmmos are used to being bossed around and treated like trash by their clients. And they normally happily bend over and take it.
But when the "client" bossing them around is another lawyer, often one who makes much less money and/or is less prestigious, it bothers the law firmmo to have to bend over and get fucked in the ass with a smile.

in response to:
"Bro, you were never like us. That's the difference. It just took a few years to sort it out. Now please continue to project your angst through more adderall screeds."
guess i was way out of line to give a flippant and dismissive response rather than engage in good faith.

What a bizarre description. What "chip" could we possibly have? In-house people are overwhelmingly happy we no longer bill hours but we have to keep law firm lawyers from running up the bill by putting 4+ people on calls or letting people pad hours. Otherwise, we pay you money to do specific work. You never actually talk to our clients except in a few limited litigation scenarios, so it isn't like we're worried that you'll somehow upstage us. Our jobs have remarkably little in common.
Every once in a while you'll see an in-house lawyer go to a firm but it is a once in a blue moon event. 99% of in-house lawyers are thrilled that they're in-house and not biglaw.

"why do inhousemos have such a chip on their shoulder?"
"im happy and all my colleagues are."
"cope more burnout"
you've made up your mind inhousemos are seething because your ego is tied to your job, and people who could have it but don't want it devalues it and makes you emptional. so you dismiss people claiming they're happy (u mad!) and nonpersonal arguments (tldr!).

OP: "OMG, in-house lawyers have a HUGE CHIP on their shoulders!"
In-house lawyers: "We're actually happy and see a ton of law firm lawyers trying to get jobs doing what we do and generally have no desire to return to firms."
Firm lawyers: "OMG QED QED QED!!!!!1"

first you criticize me for writing too much and now you're criticizing me for leaving something out trying to get my point across in fewer words.
you've given up even trying to engage in good faith. and lol at launching adhoms about retarded scuffling on xo and what that says about in-house work generally.
ultimately this thread is about attitudes inhouse and if you're primed to reject multiple poasters saying "im happy and my colleagues are" what else can i say? i can't put you inside my head to prove its how i feel so we're at an impasse.
it's 4pm and i just got home. scuffling on xo was 90% of my workday.

No, you don't, liar. I know for a fact.
Lol at a "direct report" to the CLO of her shitbank with 100 employees.
Remarkable? When did I ever say it is remarkable? You and Mandy have been in law for 20 years and you have never once scratched at what I made as a midlevel associate years ago.

No, you obviously don't. You didn't even know that AGC is Director level here.
Yeah, it has 100 employees. Totally.
Is this based on the alternative universe where we make $115k or something?

this whole thread is amazing in proving exactly OPs point.
You could not last more than 11 months in biglaw. Your only dream in this world was to work biglaw. You fantasized about it. We all remember. And you got canned after 11 fucking months, never to return. Back to biglaw? No. Back to school, literally more school, only to get "JD advantage" roles.
So you have concocted this laughable story about how all along what you really wanted to do was to work in midlevel legal compliance at a F1000 company. Screens, teams meetings, 'deliverables' all day.
Congrats on making less at the age of 45 than I made as a midlevel associate. too bad you couldn't have gotten it up front and invested in the S&P 500 years ago like I did. You wouldn't have to worry about paid vacation like you do now.

The in house lawyers may or may not have noticed that the OP didn't mention Biglaw.
Suppose someone posted "Why do PE principals have such giant chips on their shoulders", and that's all. If a bunch PE guys ran in to talk about how being a PE guy is actually better than being a Biglaw lawyer, that would be really weird, right? And the reason it would be weird isn't because they'd be wrong -- being a big shot PE dude is actually better! But it would still be really weird.
Think about that, in house bros.

1) this thread parallel thread to this one about in-house v. biglol
https://xoxohth.com/thread.php?thread_id=5755930&mc=44&forum_id=2
2) we're on fucking xoxo. this is in line with your point too, but a thread about in house lawyers on a fucking lawyer forum implicitly is about others LAWYER options. he might as well said "hmmm but what about compared to professional poker players, no one said biglaw!"
this is exactly the type of biglol "GOTCHAS!" invested in being right. i can envision op loling about how a lazy in-housemo improperly italicized a comma in a routine discovery motion and patting himself on the back for his attention to detail.
