Mario Golf GBA and Mario Tennis GBA are both excellent RPGs, as well as the previous versions on Gameboy Color. its a shame that they never brought the RPG elements to the Console versions

To my younger self's ears this sounds like a character name from a Mario lineup, lmao

Wow, just wow, unironically. I never knew that about the GBA differences, but that sounds 180. Is that the kind of thing you can buy to play on a Switch 2?

Been out of the gaming scene for a long time (Bioshock Infinite was the last one for me) but would love to play some random games as an alternative to mindless web browsing when too tired for anything else / killing time at the hotel on a business trip etc.

Thank.

yeah the GBA ones are amazing. I just powered on my switch 2 to see if it is included on the GBA ports that nintendo gives you, but apparently my subscription doesn't allow me access to GBA stuff.

They are not on the eshop. There is a really amazing copycat game called Golf Story (also a golf RPG) that is on the Switch

Tyty for the deep dive - and that copycat game looks 180^180 in all ways, like a genuine labor of love by the people who made it.

(You can probably guess that I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a Switch 2, because it sounds like a fair price for what you're getting and a genuinely great substitute for mindless web surfing)

I think that the Switch 2 is great. I own a Switch 1 and a Steam Deck - Steam Deck is something to consider because it can be easily hacked etc. with all of the old shit including GBA Mario Golf/Tennis, but for the money Switch 2 is amazing. It is almost as thin as the Switch 1, which is incredible.

And yeah GOlf Story is great. I beat it years ago and still have it

180^180, and ty for the Steam reminder, because I tend to forget about Valve's hardware when thinking about this stuff.

Just from the screen shots alone it's a great vibe, like taking all the right lessons from gaming history to make a retrofuturistic classic.

BRB going to my local Target to check on their Switch 2 inventory...
