My backlog only ever grows. I play my new releases on gamepass for the most part and then just accumulate good games at attractive prices through sales, bundles, giveaways, etc. It isn't as if games are in a steady state of perpetual improvement, so not much is lost by being "behind." It doesn't matter if I play Resident Evil 4 remake now or two years ago when it came out. Anytime I'm in the mood for something, I always have multiple unplayed games that fit the bill that I didn't pay much for.
Buying a game anywhere close to full price ($45+) is typically like a twice a year thing. It's rare that I really want to play a particular game immediately, and even then I won't pay up if the devs are woke faggots. I'd rather play something else and wait out the prices than finance their faggotry. Indie games get bought immediately more often since I more frequently come across something I want to support.
