As far as discussion, most people find internet discourse overly combative or superficial. Most extremely only types either have an agenda engage in the most spurious, pedantic, vicious way or they're doing the lowest effort hot takes trying vying for attention.
Obviously I see your point since I'm a PARTICIPANT as well, but I also understand why 95% of people mostly lurk.
