Same thing, to a lesser extent, with Expedition 33 @ $50. It just feels like there's this endless refrain of, "The State of AAA is Grim. However, Indies offer a Reprieve..." ad nauseum. And then Expedition 33 gets nominated for an indie award. And then redditors are like "It's not a Major Studio, Champ. It's an Indie." Before long, they're going to market everything targeted at Losers as an Indie. All it is is the western marketing machine. They harness disdain at the Same AAA Games and divert that energy to indie games. And if you say "hey what about Japanese games, not saying they're all good but they come from a completely separate universe and don't have 80% of the problems you idiots complain about," and you just get downvoted and they call it rollslop. |
