yeah. I think the strongest case for real ufos is that there is a coherent persistent phenomenology across reports and videos. for the videos that could be dismissed as a similar optical effect in the instruments causing the same distortion on mundane objects. but the problem I think is that there are plenty of credible reports from people who witnessed them outside instruments. when you take that into account the ufo explanation starts to actually seem more parsimonious despite invoking something that feels exotic and absurd.
agree with you on roswell, the story on that one is pretty bizarre

roswell was just an experiment but Nimitz was basically extraterrestrial drones that were gathering info on things like water, temp, atmospheric composition, presence of gold particles, etc

one night i think i did
i was like 12 and there were supposed to be shooting stars that night so i stayed up late like until 2 am by myself
then i saw it, a shooting star that went across the entire sky and super fast, then out of no where it did a 180 in a u shape w the tail clear from start until end
even as a kid i thought wtf did i just see an alien
never seen anything like it, and honestly never researched it to see if thats a normal thing that can happen but ive gone to see thousands of shooting stars and never saw anything like that since
I saw one when I was 18 or 19. I was with friend and we had just put some paper acid on our tongues and were outside when we saw a light in the sky moving slowly and we were trying to figure out if it was a star, airplane, or satellite, it kept moving closer but slowly and then all of a sudden it shot away. We were both all, "HOLY SHIT WE JUST SAW A UFO!"
We ran inside to tell our other friends and they were all, "Nah, you were tripping," and we were all, "NO! THE ACID IS STILL ON OUR TONGUES LOOK!" but it didn't matter, no one believed us.
