Scandal erupted in 2023 when Orrin Smith, an elder in the LDS church, was arrested with three open cans after leaving a so-called "dirty soda" stand in Provo. Smith, 21, plead guilty to the charges and agreed to attend counseling sessions on the dangers of caffeine.

SLC Mormons don't really follow this rule and drink coffee freely. It's probably all the small towns outside of SLC where the Mormons go insane, not just with hot drinks but also polygamy.
Source: I used to work for a company headquartered in SLC. They had coffee makers in the SLC office. |

Date: September 3rd, 2025 8:15 AM Author: Massive Frum International Law Enforcement Agency SLC has almost no homeless people IIRC because they give almost all of them housing. Plus, even the downtown area isn't that dense.
SLC is generally clean but has one glaring issue: horrible air quality. The city is surrounded by mountains, which traps all the smog/pollution/etc. in the city. When I visited SLC, I drove down to Bryce Canyon one weekend. On the drive back, I thought something was wrong with my car as I entered SLC because it started to smell so bad. Turns out that's just what stale smog smells like. |
