Sounds like you need a decent sound system at home if you think a Samsung soundbar with a sub is a high end system.

Budget? For simple but good get Klipsch the Nines. You can get the old version on sale for $900 or the new and improved ones are $2500. No need for a seperate amp or sub.

Big enough that unless you have a compelling reason to get the sevens (just not enough space where you want to put them) I don't understand why you wouldn't just get the nines. Overall, it is the difference between you get the sevens and will probably want a sub vs getting the nines and you really don't need a sub.

Personally not a fan of the all-in-one stuff.
When something dies the whole thing probably becomes trash.
No upgrade path.

This guy is impressed with a Samsung sound bar. I don't think focusing on picking perfect individual components and then upgrading each over time is what he is going to be doing. You also have to worry about synergy between the components which you don't worry about with all-in-one systems.
By the way, I mostly pick AIO systems because it saves the headache of dealing with individual components. I have built in ceiling speakers so with those I have the pleasure of dealing with that nonsense.

So? Advances in DSP in the last decade or so have enabled some pretty small devices to eek out surprisingly rich bass. A modern soundbar is genuinely much more pleasant to listen to than, say, a portable Bluetooth speaker or the cheapass 5.1 systems that were all over the place in the 00's.

Lol. Lmao, even.

The upper HW series are the best mid-range speakers that are 2.1 wireless obiouxly not my first choice but valuetown wise its like getting keys to the city esp for a Samsung
tbf though wirelss is def somewhat satanic for acoustics and i should get wired in future
Also unless the room is designed for acoustics properly theres almost no point in going overboard, the best audiphile experience will aways be high end heapdhones with proper amp etc ime if you have a good ear

Sure, but that's a very low bar.
"Lol. Lmao, even."
If you're going to seriously do the audiophile bs then yes, that's what they do. If you dgaf then just get the AIO that is good and save yourself the energy and space.

No, I'm not doing "the audiophile bs" - you are.
"Synergy"? GTFO. That word is (mostly) speaker store salesman bullshit.
The vast majority of people run solid state amps, and the vast majority of solid state amps can adequately power the vast majority of speakers.
Now, if you've got some odd gear, or think you might want to run odd gear, then yeah there are things to pay attention to.
But you can (and should) get pretty deep into the hobby before you start jerking yourself off about whether a particular impedance drop on speaker X is handled adequately by amp Y or what have you

Right, but my point is that if you're not there then why bother with individual components when you can get a good AIO that will sound great and where you won't have to deal with any of that?

Mine is pretty similar to what I outlined above
My speakers are KEF LS50s with an SVS sub
My electronics are a MiniDSP Flex Digital, an RME ADI-2 DAC, and a Nuforce amp
While I think my LS50 + sub combo is great, the reason I don't think my system should be copied exactly is because IMO, a big reason why it's working so well is because I'm able to high pass filter the LS50s at 80hz. The LS50s just don't sound quite as good if you feed them a full range signal. Unfortunately, all the subs I know of that have a HPF aren't cheap.
Also my RME DAC is a bit redundant, the DAC in the analog version of the MiniDSP Flex is fine.
Drunkard probably has the best stereo on the board. (Or at least the most expensive.) He's got Klipschorns and a McIntosh tube amp.
Edit: I'm dumb, the MiniDSP Flex analog has two sets of analog outputs & I'm pretty sure you can high pass the mains. So LS50s + subwoofer(s) would be possible. Still not sure if I'd recommend it though, it's very tweaky.

I have a certain amount of the basics. I am set up in an equilateral triangle with them aimed at my shoulders. The tweeters are pretty much right at ear height (although this sort of matters less with LS50s because they are very forgiving of being off-axis).
I haven't yet done any room treatment.
I do run Dirac room correction and I think it's 180. I run it full range. Some people don't like full range Dirac; it can sound a bit less lively, and maybe sort of fake? I've gotten used to it and I like it a lot. Even if you don't like full range correction, it's fantastic to do it up to about around 300Hz or so and clean up the bass.
