A big movie might bring in a lot more but you have so many more people to pay between making the thing and marketing.
But then you don't have another movie next week. You're done. You can't crank out a blockbuster every week. |

Most "bands" are solo artists now, virtually no "bands" exist anymore unless they're really old and established. That's grossing $625 an hour if you worked an 8 hour day. Now figure a lot of bands tour 200 nights a year. It really adds up. And these are bands with niche audiences. Now imagine you have any type of household recognition it just goes up from there.
