David Bowie was also an early advocate and his taste is impeccable, but they have since proven to be a joke and don't have any new ideas. Great bands push music forward and create a unique sound or aesthetic. Arcade Fire competently recycles a lot of old ideas with modern production. They also coast on the critical acclaim of their first album. If Reflektor was the first thing they ever did, they'd be a modestly well reviewed flash in the pan. That's not much progress for a band that has been around for a decade. |
