The "best" explanation I've heard is that she didn't want to be embarrassed by $100K of Amex debt during her confirmation, but (a) $100K on a CC is not even that bad for someone of her net worth, and (b) this only makes any sense if she neglected to pay it off until like <2 days before the unmovable point in time where they measure these things, which is not how these disclosures work. So by "best" I guess I mean "most flattering to her."
In terms of what's the best explanatory fit: BONE-DEEP grifter who can't turn it off.

"BONE-DEEP grifter who can't turn it off."
that, and look at her orbit - everyone in the admin is basically profiting off their position. why the shit shouldn't she? i bet she was downright shocked when they told her she was out over the $100k scam.

I honestly don't think the story even hurts TRUMP/the GOP, because they fired her. Don't get me wrong it would hurt any other admin, but I think for most ppl it's kind of nice to see that there's *some* limit to the corruption. She's basically a family member, too.

I represent the newspaper in my city and was talking to the guy who does their polling, and he was telling me that you can't ever predict the direction of polling error, but that pollsters are using super-aggressive countermeasures to counteract GOP undersampling, which could very easily mean that the current polls understate the Dems' margin of victory--if in fact Dems' increased propensity to answer polls (which is well-documented) just translates to an increased propensity to vote (in a gay boring midterm where fucking no one is "enthusiastic" to support the GOP).
If that happens then shit like south carolina and mississippi become realistic. They're already dumping a literal billion dollars into texas, kansas, and ohio.

That's what happened in the polling in the Virginia and NJ races in 2025. They used 2024 Recall Vote and heavy weighting, which led to polls showing much closer races. I lean towards that being more likely than an undercount of GOP support, but that might be my bias talking.

A midterm is halfway between a presidential election (with TRUMP on the ballot and everyone turning out) and an off-year election (where only the very dorkiest TRUMP haters show up, you could create a requirement that all voters produce their graduate degrees as Voter ID and you wouldn't see any dip in turnout, and you could put the average MAGA voter on a polygraph and show they had no idea there was an election going on).
Nobody knows what's going to happen, but the current spectrum for Dems runs from "good night" to "historic tsunami."

My guess is that it's wrong. I've noticed that AI seems to be getting steadily less accurate over the last few months. My guess is that if she does have a large net worth, it's overstated or somehow illiquid.

I literally linked her financial disclosure. You can't tell her NW with any precision from it, but it's definitely either 7 or 8 figures.
And "illiquid", okay, I'm sure she doesn't have a million in a checking account, but it's not like it's locked away in an ice palace in the arctic; she's got shitloads of stock she can sell.

Her income was $1.6 million, which after taxes, her credit line, her jumbo mortgage, and ridiculous spending habits probably left her in the red. It was either sell stocks and take a tax hit on the sale or get some donors to help her out. The latter is pretty ordinary course in Trump world.

you are talking out of your asshole and clearly the donalds trump were retarded to not just pay her off sufficiently to get her to go away rather than do this greece bullshit

what does that have anything to do with what I said? of course trump is retarded and vindicative. Virtually everyone in trump's circle has eventually turned away and shit-talked him.

She was a model, a fox news bimbo, and has dated/married wealthy men her whole life. She dresses in the most expensive and fashionable clothes. During her time at Fox she lived in some mega-expensive coop. She has rentals all over the place. She travels all the time. When she lost Trump Jr. I doubt she brought her spending in line with her income.
