are we supposed to pretend Obama didn't also lose congress? the tea party never happened? Trump 1.0 wasn't impeached by dems who held the congress? wtf is wrong with people?
Every midterm doesn't have Kansas and Texas and South Carolina turning blue. I think this is a sea change and a wholesale rejection of the status quo in the GOP.

Elon contributed between $445M and $474M to the 2026 midterms. In 1986 dollars, that's equivalent to approximately $145M-$154M. The total overall spending for the 1986 midterms was roughly $450M in unadjusted 1986 dollars. For the 2026 midterms, the total overall spending was roughly $11.9B.
If Elon contributed $154M to the 1986 midterms, he would have contributed approximately 1/3 of the total amount spent on all federal elections in 1986 ($450M). That's just slightly less than the $186M raised by the national GOP committees and roughly 4.5x more than the $35M raised by the Democratic Party.
that is impossible. this still damages Trump's control over the gop. pretty soon republicans will start calling him a fat retarded cocksucker on Twitter

no, he'll probably get impeached and beat the charges again, wasting more of our time and dems will say some wild shit that comes back to fuck them in a few years time, and the wheel turns
it's the pattern he described. president is SPS, people vote for other major party. this happens all the time, but this one is particularly dramatic because Trump 2 has been one of the worst presidential terms ever

Iowa, Texas, and South Carolina have never had a republican incumbent senator defeated by a democrat, at least not since the 17th amendment was ratified. In Kansas, the previous Democratic senate election victory was in 1932.
The last time at least six states all moved to the same party was in 2014: Republicans flipped nine Democrat-held senate seats in Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, North Carolina, South Dakota, and West Virgina.
The Senate result is the strongest Democratic midterm performance in 40 years. The last time they even approached this performance was in 2006, when they flipped six Republican-held senate seats. Democrats haven't flipped 7+ seats since 1986 (9 seats flipped) and 1958 (13 seats flipped).
What's especially unusual is that six of the seven flipped seats were in states that Trump carried by significant margins in 2024: South Carolina (Trump +17.9%), Kansas (+16.1%), Texas (+13.7%), Iowa (+13.2%), Ohio (+11.2%), and North Carolina (+3.2%).
Overall, the 2026 results most closely resemble the 2006 results: Republican president's second term, Democrats gain 31 House seats and flipped six Republican Senate seats. The democrats' overall 2026 midterm performance was easily their best in at least 40 years.
