Many have, and they are thriving. While Terrence Tao and Tristan Buckbroken are whining there were too many papers, several other people just took the drop and ran with it and have already published improvements.

"OpenAI then directly released more than 700 machine-generated proof documents, which left many mathematicians around the world almost fainting in shock when they saw them after waking up.
In the words of theoretical computer scientist Scott Aaronson:
This is an apocalyptic catastrophe for the mathematics community, the Mathocalypse.
Now, the collective counterattack of the entire mathematics community has officially begun."

Fuck that motherfucker. If you're obsolete, you do what you do as a hobby or passion project. You don't get to suck the teat of funding to make a career out of it if you're not good enough anymore

I'm consistent on this: I want the legal profession to get destroyed by AI. The entire legislative approach needs an AI overhaul so that people can actually understand what the laws are and they can be administered fairly and properly
Nearly this entire branch of work is parasitic and unnecessary. Advocacy is about all that should exist

The entire paper is full of extremely chaotic logical leaps, piles up a large number of a priori conclusions without any explanation of their applicability, and uses weird constructions that human beings have never seen before throughout.

Dude talks like a sorority girl:
And while Tao has generally sounded wistful about this transition, Litt said he was “optimistic” about it.
“One of my collaborators told me, I feel like I’ve been crawling my entire life, and now I can fly,” Litt said of the advent of AI as a tool for solving mathematical problems. “It’s like incredible what what we can do now.” He said he thought AI would enable human mathematicians to engage in much more “open-ended exploration” than was possible before. “We should expect mathematicians to be like way more productive in the future,” he said.
i'm surprised that it would wipe out people's careers rather than just changing the nature of the job and/or forcing them to shift their focus to new problems. academia is so weird

Buck had better head on down to the Port Authority Bus Terminal and claim a good dick-sucking stall before it's too late.
"Professors" and "academic researchers" are 100% the most arrogant faggots in society, and now that the demographic cliff + AI has laid bare their fraud for the world to see, they can learn to mine coal to power the AI that is better and smarter than them

Let’s say you are a Mathematician studying for your Phd. You’ve spent the last 3 years working on a specific problem.
You wake up one morning to find out that OpenAI fed that problem to its internal model and, after 3 hours, the last 3 years of your research has become useless because their model solved it.
What are you to do? You can’t publish most of what you have been working on now. Sure, you could shift what you were doing to verifying that proof, but that is not really something Phd worthy.
You could also shift to focusing on another related problem, but who is to say you don’t wake up next week only to find out AI took a crack at that too?
I feel like people are failing to see how deeply harmful this is to the field of mathematics
