oom? I understand Ishmael's predicament but Queequeg was already settled in for the night when he appeared.
Also, while I suppose it MIGHT have been customary to bunk up like that in New England at that time, would have a Polynesian have sensed that that was the custom? Seems like he would have needed to be told, since Polynesians can just sleep on the beach and would have no need to share the same bed with a strange man.
