landlords aren't always making huge margins on their rented out properties and with increases in taxes/levies it's going to tighten those even further. rent freezes can work but they need to be done by a case by case basis and based on need imo.

state controlled grocers competing with private grocers will likely not only be a major loss leader for the city (at least at first) but will end up causing price distortions in supply chains that may (and often do) lead to general increases in prices on certain goods by skewing demand and creating unsustainable buying trends. there's also all sorts of conflicts of interest at play there and depending on how the city handles contracts and procurement it's probably going to be as laden with grift as other NYC city systems, things like the old taxi medallions and alcohol licensing come to mind
