Trump gets a call from David Sachs and he decides not to sign EO putting guardrails and regulations on AI. Meanwhile new Goldman Sachs reports says net loss of 16,000 jobs a month from AI, which will likely increase exponentially. No plan from the admin for UBI or retraining. They’re just literally going to hand the most important utility ever created to a small cabal of weirdo tech billionaires who have no guiding religious or secular humanist principles. No guardrails, no regulation, no control, no defense for the broader masses. What a disgusting vile group of people in this admin. They keep beating the drum about CHINA and AI but China actually looks to be far more careful and subdued in their approach to this dangerous and un-G-d-like technology.

paradigm shifts happen all the time (I was actually joking with my wife this morning how in college I did a group project with some nigger from the football team about paradigm shifts and he pronounced it "para-diggums" and no one had the balls to correct him).
"AI" actually is pretty stupid and pretty useless except for people whose jobs involve writing 50 page "briefs".
reality is we (i.e. Americans and not you) should just shut the borders completely down and stop doing business with China and India. We'll be better off in the long run.

If you don't have the guts to correct someone butchering the pronunciation of a word then you obviously wouldn't bother challenging the tech oligarchs and this admin on AI.
""AI" actually is pretty stupid and pretty useless except for people whose jobs involve writing 50 page "briefs"."
You've said a lot of terrible things to me but this was the most hurtful.

Uber spent $3.4 billion on research and development efforts in 2025, 9 percent more than it had spent the previous year. Earlier this month, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said the company was making up for its increasing AI investments by hiring fewer human employees.

is this what you were citing? you know how i found that in 5 seconds? ai ;-)

there is literally nothing the US federal government can do to stop AI because we are dependent on china for all of our consoomption
strong US guardrails = china wins
to which you might say, "but fuck china, just ban using their shit in that case"
except as we already discovered over the past year and a half we are absolutely fucking powerless to impose any serious restrictions on trade with china. a 20% tariff is one thing, but china has the power to buttfuck us with reckless abandon if we say something like "we will ban use of any gen AI products from china"
which means our choices are:
a) hoping we can somehow stay competitive
b) be beholden to chinese corporations instead of US corporations

They didn’t “hand” it to them. Anthropic and OpenAI and Google trained these models. They belong to them. The executive order was just some sort of safety review and has nothing to do with UBI or the other stuff you are talking about. These labs are already doing thorough safety reviews before release. Look at the Opus 4.8 system card from today if you don’t believe me. Anyway, it’s hard for me to imagine the government would even know how to do a competent safety review of these models. the experts that are familiar with LLMs are not working for the federal government. They also weren’t going to be stopping these models from being released because of their economic impact.
There are real concerns here but Trump not doing some sort of lame safety review of LLMs is not it. Most of human labor will be automated in our lifetimes and we should be thinking of a way to manage that. There is no realistic way to stop that from happening short of blowing up the fabs and existing datacenters.
