for the intervening years between the 70s/80s and now, the fixation on tail risk didn't apply. even with the "black swan" crap, the 2008 crisis wasn't a "tail event." And all the shit with DEI was another failed application of the same concept where the smallest minority was poorly used as a proxy for a paradigm shift. but tail and compounding risk 100% applies to AI. it's the first real world case where postmodern epistemology applies.
