I work for a BIGFED contractor. Not going to get specific, but the contract I'm on is coming up for review/renewal soon. My contract had one major, crucial deliverable that had to be finished on time and without any major issues. I was assigned to lead this project and just delivered slightly ahead of schedule with only one minor and insignificant issue that was fixed quickly.

Due to Trump and DOGE, there's a risk of contracts being reduced or cut completely. But me delivering this shit almost perfectly and ahead of schedule basically saved the contract from being terminated completely. There's still risk of headcount being reduced, but because of my project's success, it's now very unlikely that the contract will be cut completely when it goes up for government review next month.

It was not just my guess that my project was a critical project; the two managers I report to (a director and a VP) said this, and if you work in BIGFED and knew all the details, you'd know they weren't exaggerating.

I literally did other people's work for them to get this done on time. My two managers told me I was going "above and beyond" to get this done. This makes me want to ask for a raise and possibly a promotion.

HOWEVER, the company as a whole has lost a lot of revenue and laid off over 20% of its staff this year, mostly because of DOGE. The company has been stingy as fuck as a result.

How the fuck do I get a raise and possibly a promotion when the company is going through its worst year ever?

"I saved the company a few million, here's how. I would like a raise."

Does it need to be more elaborate than this?

Imho "management" responds to fear. If you did something in the Past, it's worth $0.00 in the Present no matter how good it was. If you might "crush it" again in some uncertain future, they may or may not realize this or assign it any value.

If something Bad will happen IMMEDIATELY if you leave, that's when you can "ask for a raise" and they won't be like "haha I'll get right on that champ." If they don't currently have that fear no matter how 180 you are at wagecucking, that's when you get Another Offer. Depending on the Culture of the Firm, they may or may not tell you to gtfo at that point no matter how good you are.

The other thing they respond to is how something reflects on them and their reputation in the immediate present. If you leaving doesn't affect them they'll just be like "oh ok that Loser is gone, let's replace him," and they won't Care about the millions because it doesn't effect them TODAY. They don't care that you helped keep the Firm alive for the long run. They just don't. Because that takes Time to manifest. Epic accomplishments only matter if you're C-level because you're close to the Owners who actually realize a benefit from these accomplishments. If you're just some wagecuck adding 800% to the bottom line, your boss is like a Barrier between you and Money/Credit, sweeping all of it under the rug and rendering you a Joke.
