It's great for the purpose of writing whatever the hell you might think of and want to run as a script or program in your own terminal

unreal the number of things you can use it for. You can use it to learn everything about any sort of specific complex system you want to build, and then have it execute after it's taught you enough for you to be able to check its work well and make intelligent design judgments. and you can do in days things that would take actual software companies months to accomplish only a few years ago.

golden age of retail accessible compute is here, get everything in that you can while it lasts because the $200 subscription will not exist forever at the usage it currently allows

-- automated trading and prediction market systems. (prediction market one currently has a sharpe ratio of 5.2 over a few months, trading one is not live yet because it's a much more complex one, still working out some kinks)

-- starting a data analytics company with some buddies that we've largely built with Claude and which is doing fairly well (although still in early stages, so plenty of time yet for it to fail lmao)

for all of the above, I've been able to write code in days that would have taken full dev teams months, and it troubleshoots/bug hunts faster than any human.

probably the most mundane thing i've done with it is have Codex build me a custom task management app that replaced my todoist subscription and is a custom UI

Codex is great for app building where reasoning doesn't matter too much. For complexity, Opus is just much better.

Reasoning level also matters -- 5.5 with high or extra high is much superior to lower effort levels.
