I have a whole home generator and we keep a large stock of food ever since Covid, but if it happens in the winter and goes on for several months we’ll be just as fucked as everyone else

I’ll be a target but not an easy one since I own four guns and have 700 rounds of ammo. But yeah if the power grid goes off for several months, especially in the winter, no one is going to have a good time and many will die
180. yeah i probably only have three months of food each for me and my bf. two months' worth are designed as nutritionally balanced rations and then i have various other healthy nonperishables plus vitamins

I'd be reasonably ok for a bit assuming gas lines don't stop on day 1. But my lack of access to potable water would have me shooting my dogs and myself in the head within relatively few days
Eh, I'd probably at least wait until we got infested with parasites by drinking bog water and were looking forward to the end

currently live on an island only accessible via boat (currently has a ferry that runs to it 3 times a day), no cars on the island, only rich people, like 99% white
i dunno if anyone would come, if they did i could shoot out a few before they got to land, only hunting type things and limited ammo, pretty sure a few neighbors are gun nuts but dunno if they would protect the island or start committing war crimes

never before has America been so susceptible to aforementioned crisis with total absence of governmental or societal measures to manage chaos- your best bet relies not necessarily on self reliance but fealty to local warlord and concomitant contribution to David Koresh compound like existence

there are also plastic guides you can buy to help sharpen at a good angle but i think its easier to just learn the angle

Perhaps somewhat interestingly being a prepper/fear of earthquakes/hoarding rations is the #1 trait you share with my Zillenial ex. Must be in the water out there.

I've expended no effort and generally think prepper types are in for disappoinment. We have a propane generator with a giant tank. That would power the pump on our well. I have a lot of guns as well. I planned for and explicitly bought none of this.
