This week's hearing is just to determine whether there's enough evidence to take TR to trial. There obviously is; for example, his weapon was found hidden nearby, which ties him to the crime. Not to mention all the other circumstantial evidence we all know about. So everyone knows they'll clear the evidentiary bar for this one. But we get to see what sort of evidence they're working with.
Unsurprising stuff: We saw their consolidated attempt to tie him to the scene of the crime, and it was just as underwhelming as expected. There's grainy footage of a guy in a maroon shirt, khakis, and hat arriving in a Dodge Challenger and walking in the parking garage. No clear shots of his face or anything. Hair density seems potentially inconsistent with TR but it's really impossible to tell. Then there's footage of him returning to the car and leaving campus. Then there's footage of a guy in a black T-shirt with a flag graphic and denim pants limping around campus; the theory is that he had unassembled rifle pieces in his pant leg. Also tough to say if that's TR or the same guy as the maroon shirt. We also finally got more roof footage, and it didn't answer any Qs. It was just, "trust us, those pixels are him lying down and taking the shot." They literally said "we ASSUME" it's him doing that. You really don't see anything at all. They expressly admitted they didn't have video where you could see him taking the shot. And again, we are meant to believe tiny roof person is TR because they say it is, and that he's carrying a rifle because they say he is.
Somewhat surprising new info:
- According to the lead investigator's timeline, TR made contact with TPUSA representatives shortly after arriving on campus the first time. We have no details about this meeting. Could be nothing; maybe he just found someone and asked what time the event was starting. Would like to hear more.
- A vehicle believed to be TR's was seen on the night of the murder being driven by a bald guy with three other people in it. People on Twitter are joking about Blake Neff being the bald guy in question.
- There was an unspent round from a rifle found on a different rooftop on campus on September 10th. The state is saying an officer must have gone onto that roof at some point with a loaded rifle and cycled their firearm.
- There was an armed man with a badge accompanying the cop who first got to the Losee Center roof, and the cop says he doesn't know who the other guy was. Also, the cop's body cam ran out of battery and died as soon as he got to the roof.
Apparently the "trans" "roommate" ("boyfriend"?)'s "testimony" they got at the police station was just the cop feeding him a story and him agreeing to it. And they're not allowing him to be a live witness; all the court is allowed to hear from him is what the cops have. Pretty big W for the defense on letting the media see that interview before the trial: the judge is excluding large portions from being played during this hearing.
Q about the new roof footage and timeline: do any of you actually believe the "he was motivated by tranny ideology" story, and if so, does the timing of the shot help provide legitimacy to that idea? Like do you guys think he was waiting for CK to say something related to trans people so he could take him down then and there? Because the new footage shows he only could've been in position to set up and take the shot for around 30 seconds, so it would've been pretty lucky for him if he got there at the perfect time to get a tranny-related answer.
Also curious what you guys think about the Discord "confession" being sent AFTER he entered police custody?
