I was looking at some tanks in the courtyard, and this dude missing both arms and one leg cornered me in between two tanks and a wall and he started in spiel. "In 1999 I stepped on a landmine in..." blah blah blah but he was asking me for cash and I was so startled I gave him some cash and he made me shake his stump, which I didn't expect to be fleshy and soft. My brother saw this and immediately grabbed me and carted me off.
I went through the whole museum, saw victims of agent orange as you walked in and just felt like total shit about being American. We took a taxi back to our hotel and the taxi driver drove us the wrong way, took us down an alley, and robbed us at gun point with a revolver. Luckily my brother had told me to put 2/3rds of my cash in my sock so he only got a couple hundred bucks from us. I immediately stopped feeling bad for them. |
