My other thought was this. Imagine having to choose from different "breeds" of robotic dog.
You can choose the best home defense dog imaginable, there is virtually nothing that can kill it or shake it off other than a bullet to its robotic brain. The downside is that there is a non-negligible chance it kills you and your family randomly.
On the other end is a dog that is not a great home defense dog, it might let an intruder into your house and show him where all the valuables are but it will never bite you.
How many people would choose to buy the really good home defense dog despite the risk?
