"The Great Satan's repeated violations of the memorandum of understanding signed between the presidents of Iran and the United States once again proved to everyone how worthless and unreliable the signature of the U.S. president is, and that bullying, hegemonic ambitions, and savagery are inseparable elements of the American way and doctrine. The Great Satan has once again revealed its true face without a mask, so that this dark experience of crime and bad faith will stand as yet another powerful testament to America's deceitfulness, irrationality, untrustworthiness, and wickedness. Now that the American enemy is seeking to ignite war and incur even heavier costs and greater disgrace, it should know that the beloved Iranian nation and the Axis of Resistance have unforgettable lessons in store for it. The bravery of the fighters of Islam and the courage of the people of Iran's southern region in recent days have already demonstrated examples of those lessons."

- Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei

The only thing surprising about this to me is that they aren't calling out Israel by name. Didn't the US fundamentally want the deal? Why no mention of the bombing in Lebanon?

I hate the modern internet. It took me awhile to find the fullest version of this statement, all the articles are quotes from it without any link to the full thing. I still can't put my finger on what specifically Iran thinks the US did to violate the MOU. I don't doubt they legitimately think we did something because there's no reason for them to negotiate and then fire missiles off at ships randomly. But unless I commit myself to hours of web crawling there's no way for me to find out, because every news site just has clips for various things to support whichever side that organization is aligned with.

Welcome to the "information" age.

you should watch Breaking Points; they cover the myriad ways the U.S. and Israel violate all the agreements they enter into. it all blurs together, every time we sign and break some kind of "ceasefire" or deal or "memorandum," and I wasn't following closely for a while so I don't know/remember offhand the first thing we did after the MOU. https://youtube.com/@breakingpoints

I used to love Breaking Points and was a paid subscriber. If you scroll on my FB a bit I even poasted when they first started after The Hill encouraging people to subscribe!

Sadly, the quality of their reporting went too downhill for me to continue. I had too many Gell-Man amnesia experiences when their reporting on something I was an expert on was too off for me to trust them anymore.

The concept is great. I really, really, really love that a Crossfire type show where both sides discuss the news in good faith and friendship exists though. And their coverage is far better than your average independent journalist.

You're just jealous of Saager's midnight suits

Edit: but cr the show went to shit when they went independent. The Hill actually has editors that kept them on point. Since they went solo it all became slop.

Didn't the MOU basically say that Israel not bombing Lebanon was a prerequisite for opening the Strait of Hormuz and the minute the ink was dry they bombed the shit out of Beirut every single day until Iran tore up the deal? Not a Hitler apologist but at some point you start to wonder, 109 countries... For no reason at all...

Shalom,

The Great Satan’s Zionist colony continued bombing Lebanon many times in violation of the MOU before that. And those ships should have respected the fact that Iran controls the strait now and not try to sneak past Iran through the “Omani corridor.”

The world and America have never been more anti-Israel. Even Trump smacked down Netanyahu over Lebanon, something unthinkable until recently. Iran was in the verge of winning the PR war for good. Even Hamas, Hezbollah, PIJ, etc. have enough sense to lay low to lock in the gains and change the narrative for good. But the regime couldn’t help themselves and here we are again. Just because the Pahlavists are assholes doesn’t mean the mullahs aren’t morons.

Israel only stopped the attack once the US got back into the war. Now they're not fighting. They're waiting around for the next peace deal to start fighting again. It's all so tiresome. And Trump isn't anti Israel at all he just purged all the Israel skeptics from Congress and the Dems are moderating big time already. No one is willing to push back aga them. They're in total control.
