Her aunt has been with the uncle for like 20 years and it’s both of their second marriage and they have no kids. The uncle I guess went in the bedroom and she was hunched over the head dead. She was like 68 or something.

My wife and I were driving to the shore with our kids and she pulled the OMG MY AUNT JUST DIED. I cut her off and said which aunt? Then she tells me and I say are going to let this ruin our week at the shore?

She starts to talk then I cut her off and say answer my question, she says no. So I tell her to put the music back on.

Then later we’re drinking and she starts to go on a sob thing about how I don’t care. I told her I don’t. Then i said you haven’t seen your aunt since our wedding many years ago. She wasn’t a blood relative. My mother died the same way and although i was distraught at the time, it made me realize unfortunately people die. It’s going to happen more and more. I’m 40 and you’re 38. After 40 you’re at the age where even if you die people are upset about it but they no longer say “oh wow he was so young.” It happens. People die when they get old. I’m not going to go on a whole “I need to take off from work and ruin my vacation bc some 68 year old alcoholic had a stroke.”

She stfu and kind of agreed with me. Then I kept drinking and went on about how I would have loved to see her cousins faces when they heard the news lol. She didn’t care about that but the petty comments on both sides built up and we got into a blow up fight.
