https://www.cnbc.com/2026/08/18/bond-yields-government-us10y-treasury-note-iran.html

"Yields on U.S. 30-year Treasurys were up almost 2 basis points to 5.3275%, the highest level since 2002. The yield on 20-year Treasury notes hit a post-2006 high, while the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield was last seen at 4.74%, its highest since 2007."

This will finally cause the US economy to deleverage (or go the Japan/Argentina route).

Give credit shitlibs.

Only if he keeps this up. My fear is that he walks away from the Iran conflict without causing serious damage to our economy.

But if he does that, then Iran clearly wins, gets paid via tolls, and Israel loses bigly, so either way is win win for me.

to be fair, Trump has already done the Fed's job de facto of raising interest rates for the year - thanks Donald

I actually support this. So even though Trump wants the opposite, his actions are actually causing the correct/needed market change.

You're just a deficit hawk and your predictions are biased toward what you hope will happen. There's no indication we're going to deleverge or turn into Japan anytime soon. In five years you'll be predicting the same thing without any reflection on how you haven't been right yet.

I wasnt referring only to the govt. I was referring also to consumers and companies. And yes they are deleveraging already over the last few years.

Nobody is counting on money in the future. The new currency will be computational power.
