AI can do the job of an immigration attorney or slip and fall attorney pretty well as far as document generation goes because the issues aren't novel and everything is settled law. its all automation at that level which is why cslg was able to set up the firm he was able to by farming things out to 102 iq santa clara grads. AI would do a better job than 90% of shitlawyers because even with the ridiculous em dashes and stupid analogies it uses its still better than their shitlaw briefing.
It can also be very helpful for biglaw in summarizing and finding hot docs in discovery imo.
What it is not very helpful in right now is working on any novel arguments or the type of law epah is generally doing where you have to actually convince a judge of something that there is no clear answer for. so its not a stretch to think its not helpful to his firm at all. him not being able to use it to assemble a powerpoint is probably user error but otherwise i get his point. |

In terms of novel situations though, the more actually novel, the more valuable it is to have a system that can generate analogies across distant domains, propose alternate framings, surface latent assumptions etc. I'm talking about it as an extension to the person already using the tool. If you are just using it as a vending machine and saying some 80 iq 10 year old can't use it for novel work, then sure.
