Newsom is going to begin his campaign after the midterms. So will Vance. They both think they can lock up support to where the primary is a formality. The problem is that when people start voting the market correction comes in. Newsom's got problems. Vance has lost some luster.
I think it will be a pitched battle on both sides. There's no telling what will happen. Vance will be attacked from two fronts, the Nikki Haley people who want more Jew and war, and the AF people.
Totally unpredictable election cycle. I would take the field over the favorites in any case.
AOC won't run because she is unpopular outside of her bubble and she knows it. Her job is to ride the gravy train. |

Kaki Harris because she's dumb, but if she runs she gets the black vote, and they win the Dem primaries in the major states.
Newsom not because he's from California but because he's too elitist, too smooth, too groomed, and of course, his wife. He may be a media darling but the US is predominately a working to lower middle class electorate and people like the Newsoms are automatic turnoffs to most Americans. Just put Mrs. Newsom on national TV and game over.
Vance has morphed from a hillbilly dork to a Catholic dork who's awkward on twitter. He has the best shot of all names on here as the sitting VP, but that only carries him so far. And he may not run (Halperin implied it).
I do keep an eye on Ossof. There's something about him that says don't underestimate him. He's handsome without being off putting like the Newsoms, he's liberal but from Georgia, has elements of Obama from 2008 as a relatable nerdy intellectual with a nice family. I'd rank him as having a better shot than Josh Shapiro, who is too dorky and too Jewish, unfortunately. Have a feeling Ossof can survive the antisemites in the Dem base better than Shapiro can.
My money is on a Rubio vs Ossof matchup as of today. But perhaps famous last words. But it would be a brilliant matchup. A genuinely fascinating political season. |
