I got to intermediate latin reading but then got too lazy because the difficulty becomes insane once you switch from contrived textbook latin to real latin and you basically just have to memorize insane amounts of vocab and parts of text per text. But also I still want to learn GREEK as part of a lifegoal but know i'm probably too lazy because the vocab is alien as furk compared to latin.

From my perspective I would say why learn modern. If you learn ancient it opens up a massive amount of texts, the greatest textual corpora humanity has ever produced. If you know English, Greek and Latin you get access to most of it unfiltered through translation. Obviously adding French and German on top of that would be ideal.
