btw, this isn't a technical or universal distinction but personally I prefer the term "displacement" because it doesn't sound as much like AI is just coming in and replacing humans for an entire team, or (as a lot of retards on the internet like to imagine) eliminating an entire job type altogether. when I say "displace" I mean that AI use increases the marginal productivity of individual workers, so companies are able to cut team sizes to save money.
H-1B and outsourced workers have been replacing Americans as long as I can remember, like literally when I was a kid my dad was on a team with mostly Indians in India lol. so far, AI is displacing workers more than replacing. SO FAR. |
