the whole draw of herman miller aeron is the longevity - its supposed to last many decades. so buying new actually seems credited because you have the warranty and you know its not a lemon or replaced with shitty parts/the prior classic version. |

i had a hard time justifying dropping $1800 on an office chair. and the $200 Office Depot chairs I was getting were falling apart every 2 years. |

Date: March 22nd, 2023 5:27 PM Author: disgusting plum theater stage immigrant ive done a deep dive into office chairs, and the best two brands it seems are herman miller and steelcase. i went to several office wholesalers in my city and looked at/sat in the top 3 chairs from each brand. ime steelcase is crap. the quality is terrible and theyre not very cheap. i did like the leap v2 but the fabric on the chair i sat on was already coming off, would not pay over 500 for that.
i think herman miller chairs are pretty credited, the quality is night and day vs steelcase. ive only sat in the aeron and the embody, which are their top 2 chairs. basically the chairs are built around two different philosophies - the aeron locks your back in to an ideal posture, and although you can adjust your tilt and angle, you cant move your upper or lower back much, but thats by design. its built for computer work, as its a "task chair"

i am leaning towards the aeron because it has better lower back support. it will also hold up better long term imo. apparently they last 3-4 decades.
herman miller is having one of their bi-annual sales in the next few weeks, i plan to cop the aeron for 15-20% off. you can always return in 30 days if you dont like it. |
