I don't think men in this situation ever make any "choices" about this dynamic. It's just how it happens and there was never any real agency by either them or their daughter. This never happened before the boomer generation because men never actually spent much time with their kids like they do now. Girls were raised by the mother and kids were already "adults" by very young ages and working and helping adults. Nowadays "dads" are like moms and it's really weird and unhealthy for everyone involved and leads to anti social dynamics like girldadism

I have more sympathy for these guys now but at the same time I am more hardened in my conviction that wifeguyism and girldadism are serious problems and threats to society.
