Ireland is a wonderful country with wonderful people, but the majority of them have an in-built subservient mindset to whatever they perceive as the most relevant power in the current place and time. And the culture is almost entirely about "saving face" because of how small the nation is.
Part of this comes from being subjugated by the English. Part of it comes from being a very small island. And, no doubt, part of it comes from the fact that the Irish people most likely to say "wtf is this shit" leave Ireland for "greener" pastures.
Regardless, watching them bring in people that will cause problems if they make up even 5% of the population is sad to see. |
