I remember we were assigned to write our own chapter and I embodied Herbert and wrote the most insane misogynistic shit. I actually still have it.
ex.: "Mr and Mrs Jason Richmond Compson announce the marriage of she always wanted more embellishments on the letters, gold lettering instead of silver, a larger wax seal. Because if the invitations were elaborate enough, they would demonstrate our love and we wouldn’t have to. I didn’t go to Harvard for nothing. Not that you have to go to Harvard to know how women think. Women are born without the capacity for unselfish thought, and I swear to God, a woman’s whole life is dedicated to finding a man and sucking him dry of his material possessions so that she can live the most luxurious life possible. And we, the men, are biologically predisposed to reach out to them because they’re so goddamned weak and helpless and we’ve been trained as “romantics” and want to make our fathers proud and whatever other reasons in the book. I don’t know why I fell into that trap but here I am. So they use us and then they have their babies and then they eat us. That’s what spiders do, at least. I don’t see the difference. Anyways, sometimes a woman will come out and society’ll manage to inculcate some shred of decency in her, and that’s why we men don’t just get fed up and drop out of the race completely. So society did fine with Elizabeth, but I know she’s the same underneath because all of them are.
Glad I never had a sister."
