Basically since Agassi retired, and nobody has come close to Roddick in 20 years.
Switzerland, Spain, and Argentina each had MULTIPLE players better than Roddick since then.
How the FUCK is this possible???

Because in America tennis is a prancing faggot sport relative to the other sports an athletically & mentally gifted young man might consider going into.
In faggy soccer countries otoh it’s a big deal and highly appealing in general

Americans now play a ball bashing style which they hone on hard courts and that falls apart at the highest level of competition. Whereas Spain and other Europeans tend to learn the game on clay, which forces you to use better tactics and strategy in matches. You can't just outhit an opponent on clay, you have to construct points effectively.
Maybe Ben Shelton will be able to rise above, he has real talent IMO and I think being a left could help. Though I think the win against Alcaraz the other night may turn out to be a fluke given Alcaraz was out for months on end.
Otherwise, the best Americans end up being like Fritz or Tommy Paul. Very fit guys who appear to work hard in matches and tend to hit with power...but they can't handle someone with a deeper level of understanding for the game and can't seem to adjust.
Also these dudes spend too much time dating the dumbest influencer bimbos and worrying about "their brand" instead of trying to improve their game.

Nah the brute force methodology can still work (see Del Potro, Kyrgios, Andy Murray and peak Nadal).
Fritz, Paul, Foe just aren't as good
To your point though, none of them are as cerebral as Agassi, or even Roddick who was extremely self-aware and maxed out under Brad Gilbert's tutelage.
They cannot construct a winner against Sinner or Alcaraz unless it's off their first serve. They cannot win a groundstroke rally from neutral position without an unforced error.
It also doesn't help that they made the balls and courts slower since the Agassi/Sampras era negating any power advantage.

I wouldn't put Nadal in the brute force category at all. Though I can see why you might given the power of his topspin versus Federer's backhand. Nadal's will and defense was on another level.
I agree more broadly that the Americans are just nowhere near as good as a Del Potro or an Andy Murray. Or even a Wawrinka who had a few year run that was out of this world. PEAK Wawrinka could hit a ball through basically anyone and he is the ONLY guy to ever beat Peak Djokovic in Australia.
"It also doesn't help that they made the balls and courts slower since the Agassi/Sampras era negating any power advantage."
This is extremely true. Though I have always believed that someone like Sampras would adapt because of his skill level. The Americans don't seem to have the ability to adapt (or the desire to get better).
