DEI type policies and using the agencies that we all rely on for various services as a vote-buying jobs program is a huge issue related to blacks, but it's not really *about* blacks in and of themselves. Much of it has to do with certain aspects of our political system that early Progressives addressed and attempted to address before all of the mission creep endemic to the decline and fall of that movement took place. Lobbying, phenomena around term limits, public-private linkages and their troublesome opacity, the way federal and state contracts are disbursed, things like legislator salaries, and a general "who watches the watchmen?" set of issues regarding oversight. Loads and loads of reasons and Congressional sclerosis compounds most of them |
