He starts every diary entry documenting the COVID death tool. Which is exactly what you'd expect from someone in his position.
His reaction to becoming a national figure as an 80 year old man who spent his life out of the spotlight is also completely human. In fact, if he reacted differently I'd think he was feigning humility to look better if these were published, which is far more vain than this.
Fauci sucks and did come to value his celebrity too much. But most importantly he downplayed and often straight up lied about all sorts of shit. It's a shame that so often in this polarized, clickbait climate people embellish shit and wind up ginning up sympathy and people defending people that deserve criticism. |

Fauci deserves a shit ton of criticism, but if Dems engage in that in the hopes the response to future problems are different than they'll get blasted by their comrades and those clips will be used against them. Same reason Trump never apologizes or acknowledges criticism. Meanwhile, Fauci probably well-intentioned, did more good then harm, and deserves some grace for being the main guy in a global pandemic. Yet the right wants to crucify him, despite the fact he's an 85 year old man and out of power. There's no reason to go after him personally except thet it gets Rand Paul and others attention. |
