I had a professor confide in me today that he doesn’t go to Burger King because he doesn’t have the correct cultural capital to order there and is thus uncomfortable doing so. He said it is a working class place and it would be symbolic violence for him to step foot in there.
He’s stating a kind of cringe fact in a Losery way.
I mean I used to eat in at these places sometimes until I aced OCI. Then I stopped. Why did I do it before? Im not sure if I even had a reason. Why not just always do the drive thru? But it didn’t feel unwelcoming. But now it does. Discuss.
