three apparently full time staffers, plus rent. based on our EOBs, insurance reimbursement rates for well visits (checkups) seem to be like $70.
plus malp insurance and whatever other insurance he needs.

solo peds doesn't really make money
40% of kids are on medicaid and probably 80% of "sick" kids who consume healthcare
to be financially viable, you need high rate of commercial insurance and high volume (30 patients a day)

I live in MFH and have an AMAZING pediatrician who is located literally next door to my kids' school. This doc has two nurse practitioners and one Shaniqua who runs the desk. She responds to emails within an hour during business hours and is reachable the few times we've had issues after hours.
She started a concierge medicine program for $2,500 per year. You get her personal cell phone number and extra time at appointments, etc. Because she's so great and normally available, it seems like a trap for neurotic Jews and Asians. So we haven't done it, but I almost want to just to make sure she stays afloat. But her husband is a specialist who has a practice in the same building, which I think is what makes this sustainable.
