If recruitment pipeline for pro athletes was perfected, racial changes?

AI-dominated coaching, recruitment, etc, aligned with selecting and equipping the best athletes in the nation to become pros of this or that sport.
Reviewing the end result of ideally selected athletes, based entirely on merit (physical, susceptibility to coaching, etc), would our pro leagues have more or less the same racial and demographic breakdowns?
i suspect you'd have a lot more white pro athletes and that, in other words, they are currently strongly discriminated against |

Date: September 26th, 2025 9:31 AM Author: .....;;,,.........;.;.;.;.,;,;,;.;.;,; If you spend enough time watching or coaching youth sports, especially grade school/under 12 age groups, you realize how undervalued pure athletic capacity actually is, and how much youth sports select for kids who are the most naturally coordinated and who are more talented/motivated and observant naturally as mimics of the little details in movement patterns. It’s a significant misconception that blacks have a massive athletic advantages as opposed to a combo of more encouragement/emphasis/focus from adults and older peers at preschool/very young ages, and how much their gap in performance results from a head start in coordination and better movement patterns by the time they are 8-10 years old.
There are tons of dudes of other races who have the capacity to be very fast or jump high, can squat 2.5x their body weight by the time they’re 18, but it doesn’t translate to a massive athletic advantage in sports purely because of coordination/movement pattern training/skills training. Most drastic example is Asians, who can often be lean, explosive, springy athletes, but are often culturally discouraged from maximizing their applied athleticism in sports and/or approach sports like school so they might spend hours and hours form shooting a basketball or doing dribbling drills, but they don’t work on how to maximize a quick first step versus a capable defender. |

Date: September 26th, 2025 10:09 AM Author: .....;;,,.........;.;.;.;.,;,;,;.;.;,; It’s likely the actual impact of what I’m referring to doesn’t really change actual NBA/U.S. pro basketball very much unless you’re talking about applying it outside the U.S. to the 1/5 of the global population (and if you’re also applying it to Africans the NBA likely stays just as black and gets way less white). So much of D1 basketball recruiting let alone making the NBA comes down to being a .05-.01% height plus a .0001% sport-applied athleticism, skill and talent, ie you have the athleticism and have trained your movement and skills to maximize, but you’re also 6’4” or taller ie 99.5+% height. Asians who are 6’2” or shorter are still fighting for a tiny number of NBA spots at only a few positions. But changing this aspect of youth sports would have drastic racial consequences for eg the racial makeup of varsity rosters in high schools, and this would lead to more of those athletes trying other sports and potentially being impactful there. Eg a super quick and trained up Asian pg who is 5’11” and hits the weights enough to be 195 lbs might try out being a slot receiver or safety in high school and find they have a lot of translatable athleticism and their super study abilities make them extra good at anticipating a play/coverage, applying film study etc. (http://www.autoadmit.com/thread.php?thread_id=5780159&forum_id=2Vannesa#49304605) |

Pure straight line speed is vastly overrated. Vertical leap is a better pure athleticism metric, but whites and even Asians win medals and are competitive in high jump at the Olympics (v sprint events where blacks clearly dominate). It’s the sport most dependent on reps and therefore has a huge weather bias.
Basketball would be even more black. Every marginal white guy would be replaced with a black dude currently in jail or sitting around getting high talking about how he coulda played in the NBA. Look at the huge boost to kids of former NBA players who are involved dads. You can argue about Bronny James but this category includes Steph and Kobe. Same for baseball when black people played it (Bonds, Griffey). I’m assuming that optimization would include either changing dad behavior or identifying an ideal coach/father figure for every kid who can dunk at 14 but is considering a career in carjacking. |

The skill in today’s NBA is getting open and elevating over defenders while maintaining form. Black people are better at this skill. They also have thousands of college ball level athletes who completely waste their potential and wind up homeless and stoned. The scrappy white kid who doesn’t make it past backup PG at a decent D1 is already maximizing his potential and would be cut if we had a perfect talent ID and training system to capture and maximize better athletes.
