can you goyim explain the below quote? we believe that people aren't going to be reunited with spouses until the resurrection of the dead. do goyim believe that this happens when both simply die?

***

JESSE WATTERS: “Do you feel safe?”

ERIKA KIRK: “What are they going to threaten me with, going to heaven sooner to be with my husband? And I don’t say that to be reckless. I do not. I do not say that because I’m out in the streets like ‘here I am, come find me.’”

“It’s a fearlessness rooted in the understanding that I will have my day and my time whenever that is. When the Lord knows, that I’ve completed my mission. I’m not afraid. Charlie wasn’t afraid either. We never lived in fear. If we did, we wouldn't get anything done.”

unless the resurrection of the dead occurs in the next 80 years, she's not going to be reunited any sooner if she dies prematurely

most lay Christians think dying = going to heaven, don’t really think about this viz resurrection even though theologians would say the lay understanding is wrong

woah, the resurrection of the dead isn't a big part of what lay goyim believe? it's a huge part of judaism

it's mentioned in revelations and possibly in one of the pauline tracts, although i'd have to check that to make sure

it wasn't frequently discussed in theology classes though and was sort of an addendum. treatments of the book of revelations were generally brushed over and with some time removed from being wowed by the material, this was for what seems like good reason

the topic of the afterlife isn't discussed as authoritatively in christian works as it is in jewish extra-scriptural texts and rabbinical commentaries

revelation is such goofy jewish scifi (and a bad torah sequel) that it's no wonder lay goyim dont take it seriously

that's just the literalist and evangelical coded readings known to pop culture thanks to the waves from the impact of the bush years

if you read it as a tract against rome---i do---from the context of john of patmos' perspective and trials, it's quite beautiful as poetry/written song and makes a lot of sense and difficult to place criticisms of what must've been inconceivable to minds of the time pondering the roman system and structure

and from that perspective, it fits quite neatly with jewish polemics against the romans and the greeks (seleucids) as well (which i agree with in part, at the very least)

it varies by sect

speculating about it, the texture of the afterlife, seems kind of irrelevant from a theological perspective

we goyim do not believe the dead experience the passage of time following dying and before resurrection, so everyone's subjective experience is entering the afterlife upon death
