I’ve never understood how Sundar Pichai has managed to keep his job. He should be unanimously regarded as the worst current CEO of any F500, and probably one of the worst in history.
When he took over as Google’s CEO, Google had one of the best reputations of any company in the world. It was one of the most sought-after places to work, its employees were the happiest, its products were the premier at every category they were competing in, and it looked like they were going to own the future with automation and self-driving vehicles.
Within 3 years of him being CEO, Google was reviled as an “evil” company, their autonomous driving projects were floundering, employee morale was abysmal, and their marquee product was viewed as lackluster. They went from being the biggest company in the world by market cap to being #4 today, with a bleaker future than any of their competitors.
