imo there's nothing worse than forced quippy dialogue that tries hard to make you laugh but doesn't land. a lot of the best comedy arises incidentally from even the grimmest scenarios.

yeah I mean tbf I like quippy stuff in TV shows if it's actually funny, but not really in movies where storytelling should be the priority

Those Avengers etc type movies rake in hundred million dollar profits at the box office and whether or not I personally find them to my tastes this is what the profit incentive system attached to a capitalist economy produces

I'll bash Joss Whedon's later stuff online, without much gravity around it, but I'm learning that some of these people genuinely HATE these people for making movies with mass appeal

The worst was the "Fin" character from The Force Awakens. Star Wars up to that point had been deathly serious in every scene. Even the Ewok bullshit. But suddenly you have a this stormtrooper guy who thinks it's all hilarious to be in some space war. The critics loved this shit and said it was refreshing but right off the bat it didn't feel like Star Wars. They wrote him almost entirely out of the rest of the series. What an unforced [sic] miscue.

its awful. i read somewhere that its supposed to appeal to chinks who are a big audience for american movies. so they keep the banter at a stupid elementary in your face type of humor. idk if that strue.

the 3 stooges slapstick comedy is legitimately funnier.
