Remember when a friend told us, "Once you have a kid you won't care at all about your dog."
At that point we weren't quite "fur baby" level obsessed, but the dog was probably pretty close to the center of our lives.
A couple of kids later, and the dog is...a dog. Love the dog dearly but its a complete after thought compared to the kids.
I'm sure once my kids are older i'll revert to caring for a dog as if its a child - but its pretty obvious dogs are just placating the human desire for real children.
