Date: September 17th, 2020 8:40 PM Author: godawful party of the first part juggernaut In Chrono Triger (1995), you carry on in the first area (the "millenial fair," named after the generation of the Losers playing the game) like in a typical JRPG, talking to people, stealing items, opening chests, whatever. You are then arrested and sentenced by a tribunal to imprisonment/death.
The Seinfeld finale (1998) is precisely like this, you spend 9 seasons watching the characters get themselves into mischief, not realising or caring that they are breaking laws, and are Bad, because it's TV. Larry David is low-key into JRPGs imho. Chrono Trigger came out around the time he left the show, and he had nothing else going on, so it was perfect timing. |
