Dating apps weren't so popular then, and users were often seen as dysfunctional members of society. There were more people with mental health issues (anxiety, depression), and I found it easier to communicate with them (I have similar problems myself). Also, back then, anyone who created a profile actually wanted to talk and meet someone.
And today... today that's not the case. Yes, I'm older, but I look almost the same – it's not about looks, at least I hope not. Dating apps have become popular, and everyone has or has had a profile. Out of boredom/curiosity, if nothing else.
The age range I'm attracted to has shifted, and I see more and more single mothers and girls looking for someone to travel with. Or for marriage. Marriage doesn't appeal to me because I'm not religious, and it seems like an unnecessary process.
Now, to stumble upon someone similar to myself, I have to scroll through tons of profiles. Personally, I don't want children, and that automatically means I'll give a few likes a day. Of those few likes, maybe one likes me back in a few weeks.
It's become a bit tiring, but I'm an eternal optimist and hope I'll meet someone.
And an additional reason for the smaller number of likes is the fact that girls now have a wider choice – because more people are registered. |
