3. I think it's consistently tolerable quality at an increasingly intolerable price. Eventually, there will be a point when the price stops being justified by the relative quality compared to other national sub chains. Of course, you will get a better sub from a local deli. I just don't know any of those yet. I'd rather eat a consistently tolerable sub from a national chain than chancing it somewhere I haven't researched. It sucks that I even have to research this, but you know how it is with minorities. |

When slicing in front of you is an artifact designed to project authenticity it is both fugazi and deeply offensive. A storefront with the national marketing, sourcing, staffing, and training of a Jersey Mike’s should be slicing meat constantly for consistency and efficiency purposes. It’s an affront to the consumer that they literally slow down the process to look fresh when they’re just posers. It’s the modern equivalent of frosted tips.
