He was three and at midnight one night without waking us he crept downstairs put on his shoes opened the front door of our house and walked down the block. He then got scared and went to a neighbors porch, crying. The neighbors called the police who asked him to show them where he lived. He showed them and they brought him back. Didn’t charge us with anything but I had to endure CPS doing a home visit a couple weeks later, which was not a big deal. I put some little door alarms on his bedroom door and the front door. My point, stuff happens, kids introduce an element of randomness into life. Alls well that ends well. I asked him a couple of years later why he did that and he said he thought he wanted to see fireworks???
