1. For western games, put Gen X Nerds and anyone like that back in the drivers seat. Just embrace Engineering for its own sake. Games like Doom or Crysis or Baldurs Gate or Civilization or StarCraft are the very essence of PC gaming imo. Having a bunch of shitty console ports defeats the purpose. Having a bunch of indies for faggot gamers to jerk too as a rebellion against the State of AAA but not actually enjoy isn’t “good.” It’s Ruinous.
2. If Consoles have a place in the future, it should be that they’re better than PC in terms of optimization. Games today are running horribly relative to the hardware and their demands on it because they’re Engineered to run across 50 different platforms. It needs to stop. Exclusives, which everyone thinks are bad, can be Engineered exquisitely. More people should understand this imo.
3. Censor YouTube so that the algorithm de-prioritizes talk of western developed console games particularly the State thereof |

Gamergate explains this; journalists have gay sex with indie devs and with random AAA employees. Japan is a Closed Society and devs don't have interpersonal interaction with Liberal western journalists. Ergo, none of us have any awareness of Monster Hunter or Dragon's Dogma. We learn that an RE or Silent Hill game comes out because OYT tells us. Death Stranding 2 awareness comes from cowshit posts and cowshit posts alone. But the State of Xbox is at the top of everyone's feed. The State of the assassin's creed game with a black guy in it was all I heard about for like a year. The State of Silksong. I think this is inevitable to some extent when you have a massive budget. It's the same thing with Films and how they're crowdsourced by executives. You're right it sucks because you never get anything with a truly unique vision. It's all sort of by committee. Journos make their money by creating hype with the fans. Developers are always worried about losing money. So yeah you get a sort of game by committee. I don't think it's going to stop or change though. They had Next Generation magazine on their payroll for all intents and purposes. And today, they still have soft power in that their AAA games are, by and large, western-developed (and Japanese Supervised). So they still get the benefits that western publishers have which are derived from sexual relations between devs and "journalists."
Still, purely Japanese games - e.g. Capcom Engineered/Capcom published - don't exist in the zeitgeist. I didn't even notice that Elden Ring had another expansion. I'm just sayin'. Also the FF7R reception is milquetoast af which means imo that games aren't being judged on their Gameplay. Western journalists don't have relations with Square employees atm, western AAA dominates the airwaves, and Nintendo fans are still bitter about the N64 and Square leaving. As a result it sold ignominiously af.
Also massive AAA budgets are one thing. But gamergate started because of a journalist's relationship with an indie dev iirc. |

I have a hard time getting into non-golden age JRPGs and it's holding my interest for like 8 hours. The apple arcade version was hard af so they added a "normal" difficulty to this version. hard mode is the apple arcade difficulty. I am playing on Normal and it's well balanced imo. A lot of this is Sony's fault, and by extension your fault, for highlighting "amazing graphics" which just means photorealistic uncanny valley cinematics. And now Sony's devs can't even keep up in that department because UE5 has outpaced them in raytracing and path-tracing while Ghost of Yotei looks like an uprezzed PS4 port, sad.
