Then they just stopped making them or doing anything else along those lines. Nintendo abhors making money they are just in it for the love of the game.

Imo N64 controllers cost a significant amount to make compared to NES/SNES and if they made a $120 mini console there’d be videos on the State of Nintendo. Also zoomers HATE couch multiplayer so it might have been an own-goal like PS1 classic. Nintendo baited Sony into releasing the ps1 classic in order to win the gen retroactively.

They have all these old games on the switch but people don't play them. They are not at all in the "zeitgeist" its there for backlog bros like doodikoff to psychologically assure them that they have a lot of gaming options & in fact so many games they can't pick just one to play, then they never feel buyers remorse for having a console with no games

Sony gets no credit for never really releasing the Same Game, at least not on the rapid cadence that other companies do such as

Nintendo (pokeshit, Totk)

MSFT (COD, formerly Halo/Gears when they had competent Engineers)

Then you have the Firms that make one game and milk it forever. Sony just supervises westerners. But you hate them for it. You hate supervision.

That was cool. What was also cool was when Nintendo released a fully voiced remake of the Famicom Detective Club games in English, something literally no one was asking for because no one in America knew about these games beyond one trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee. My only complaint is that they should have called the sequel Switch Detective Club.
